Perspectives of leadership in CEE
Leadership skills are a critical success factor for management. In more than 100 interviews conducted with managers in Central, Eastern and Western Europe, we examined the various management styles.
For Croatian managers, it is recommended that they take a more realistic approach. They tend to overestimate their skills and gloss things over. Their strengths include flexibility and pragmatism. On the other hand, market knowledge and databases urgently need to be established. Managers should act in a capital market-oriented manner – stakeholders need transparency about the operations. In the run-up to EU accession, companies need to be positioned favorably.
Leaders also need to establish a company organization that is suitable for growth, team up with strategic partners and implement changes swiftly. To deal with the lack of young managers, HR needs to focus on high potentials and introduce success incentives.
