Nikolina Starčević

Born in Vinkovci in 1986.
Nikolina obtained her Master's Degree in painting 2010 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb where she studied under the tutelage of Professor Zlatko Kauzlarić.
Since 2006 her works have been shown at exhibitions both in Croatia and abroad.
She lives and works in Zagreb.

Artist's Statement:

We live in a world where the media hold a significant role; they impose certain ideals on us, they determine our view of the world we live in. For me it is all about honesty. This is why I focus on what is close to me, what I am familiar with and what I recognize and this is why I paint what is real – my surroundings. With painting I record the world I live in. I choose motifs that open up the possibility for me to penetrate by form and colour into the problematics of movement and dynamics of motif.
